''Chelsea Gallery Reaction''

For this field trip we had to go to Chelsea which I really enjoyed because ive never been in a place like that and I was unaware that NYC had something like this. I feel like Chelsea is a great place to go to relax and at the same time learn.

We had to choose two choose two artist from two galleries. One that i would like to collect and one I wouldn’t like to collect.

I would consider collecting Anish Kapoor an exhibition presented in Goldstone Gallery. What I like about this artist is that for me it was something different. Different in a way that I’ve never seen before that type of art like concrete sculptures that look kind of sloppy and looks like falling to the side but at the same time well done. When I walk in that exhibition right away it caught my eye. Is very interesting and the way the sculptures where places. On the other hand I felt this exhibition is a good investment because if it caught my eye and I’m not quite into art and what is good or bad to me I feel it will caught the eye of anyone. Other than that art can be anything and this sculptures cannot be forgotten in years because these sculptures hover between contemporary objects and ancient entity.

The exhibition I wouldn’t consider to collect is from Gilbert & George presented in Lehmann Maupin Gallery. This exhibition I would be very honest at first it caught my eye but then I was very confused by all this headings in the pictures of words like; arrested, attacked, straight, bomb, lover, missing, suicide, etc. to me I felt that it kind of interest me like to know what it was about but my perspective is that art should be something you get right away and for me to collect this artwork I wouldn’t because I want something people will get right away and enjoy it because galleries get people from everywhere and not all of us have the same art perspective and not all assimilate these things.

In my conclusion this trip to Chelsea made me realize everyone has a different perspective of what is art even for the artist and that not all type of art will mean the same to all the visitors. I also notice that the best things in life are free. This trip to Chelsea  I felt in peace and gained a lot of knowledge as well.
